For Your Reception, Design a Beverage That’s Personal

Paying attention to detail can have an amazing effect on the success of your wedding celebration.

One detail that will have your guests toasting your creativity is serving a signature drink at the reception. Here’s a list of tips to help you concoct the perfect beverage for your big day:

  • Color Coordinate. Many brides opt to match their signature drinks with their wedding colors to give their reception a little extra pizzazz. Pink is an easy hue to match with cranberry juice, grenadine, or pink lemonade. If you have Blue Curacao on hand, blue is a cinch, as well.
  • Name Your Specialty. A fun way to share more information about you and your groom is by naming the signature drink after something specific regarding your relationship. For instance, if you met at football game, you can call the drink, “The Panther.” If your dog is named “Cupcake,” you can create a sweet beverage named in honor of her. Another popular choice is the last name of the groom.
  • Present With Flair. Wedding ice balls are a great way to add color and conversation to your reception, as these small balls that measure about an inch can be dyed to match your décor. These work especially well with martini glasses. And speaking of glasses, you might want to rent an interestingly shaped glass just for your signature drink so everyone will recognize it immediately.

If the two of you can’t come to a consensus, compromise (a skill that will certainly come in handy during your marriage), and serve two drinks. For the bride, try Sealed With a Kiss, a sweet mixture of chocolate liqueur, vanilla vodka, and a Hershey’s Kiss. For the groom, serve a round of Hot Romance, featuring rum, cranberry juice, and orange juice.  Cheers! ~LKT
